This is the web site for animals registered under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998. Under this Act, cats and dogs are required to be microchipped and lifetime registered.

Access to the Register is available only to persons authorised under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998. Persons authorised to access the register include authorised council staff and authorised identifiers. Please note that authorised persons must use Internet Explorer V11, Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome (v87+) chromium browsers.

Animal Search From Mobile Devices
Access a limited 'animal search by microchip' function using mobile devices supporting browsers other than internet explorer is now available for authorised users. Authorised users either enter the following address in their browser or click on the link https://car.petregistry.nsw.gov.au/mobile

NOTE: Data entry is not available using this function.

This function also allows the authorised person to display the animal's home address by Google Map and one click icons for contacting the owner by telephone or email.

If you have a query about your animal and its listing on the Register please contact your local council. Contact information for councils can be obtained from the Local Government Directory.

All authorised persons are provided with a username and password to access the Register. If you have a query about how to become an authorised person please contact the Office of Local Government at pets@olg.nsw.gov.au.
